There is nothing better than curry leaves to give flavour and aroma to your favourite dishes. Curry leaves play an important role in our health. We are often amazed at the health benefits of curry leaves that are excluded from our diet. The ancients used to say about curry leaves in folk medicine and herbal medicine that it has a thousand benefits. Curry leaves are rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, copper, minerals, amino acids, flavonoids, vitamins A, B, C, E and carbohydrates. In short, we can realize the importance of curry leaves in our diet.

To prevent the spreading of citrus greening disease, the EU introduced a ban on the import of fresh curry plant leaves in 2014. It’s therefore very difficult to find fresh leaves in Europe. Dried leaves can still be imported, of course. But dried curry plant leaves have very little flavour compared to fresh leaves. The curry leaves are a flavouring agent in many Indian curries including lentil dishes, chutneys, and soups. The curry leaves do not keep well when off the plant and even in the fridge they have a very short shelf life, so why not grow your own and pick your own leaves fresh?

We sell all the below varieties of curry leaf plant:
1) Regular - Standard curry leaf variety, widely available everywhere including asian shops

4) Dwarf/ Gomati - Short but more bushy with plenty of leaves. Flavourful than regular type and the most aromatic, Ideal for people living in flats/apartments.
5) Indonesian Variety - Fastest grower but comparatively least flavour and aroma

Curry Leaf plant is actually a shrub (small tree) that grows slowly. Therefore, the Curry leaf plant is not a fast grower in the initial stage. It takes a couple of years for the young curry leaf plant to establish roots and adjust to the new environment before it starts to grow in height. The most crucial point of curry leaf growing is after 24 months when the plant is due for a heavy pruning - we believe this is very essential to turn it from a 'Plant' to a 'Tree' phase.

- 3-4 months seedlings: Comes in a 9cm pot, 5cm - 15cm in height. If you are looking for a gift for someone, this size isn't ideal due to the small pot.
- 6-8 months plant: Comes in a 15cm pot, 10cm - 25cm in height (depending on Gamthi/Regular). Due to well developed roots on this stage, we highly recommend the 6 months onwards age group to our international buyers with higher transit times.
- 12 months: Comes in a 15cm pot, 25cm - 50cm in height. Our Recommended size for a perfect gift. Leaves are ready to be picked straightaway to use in curries.
- 24 months: A perfect luxury gift for someone close. Our tallest trees at the moment are 100cm - 140cm with plenty of leaves. Leaves are ready to be picked straightaway to use in curries.
- 24 months (Bare Root): We do a hard prune after 24 months, we believe this is essential to turn it from a 'Plant' to a 'Tree' phase. Experienced gardeners order this option the most due to the healthiest roots and stem (also gives plenty of baby plants every Spring). If your country has tight custom restrictions with live plants, this is the best option to ensure that you get it delivered.

-36 Months: Comes in a 25cm pot, height roughly between 140 - 190cm. Due to the size, it is quiet hard to deliver this. Contact us before placing an order.

Growing information:
Curry leaf plants are not the easiest of plants to grow here in UK because of course they originate in much hotter climates so they do need a little bit of extra care when growing here. All customers will receive a PDF booklet to your email with all the instructions for taking care of the plant. If you have any difficulty with accessing your email, we are happy to send the instructions printed along with the plant. Follow the link here to our Curry leaf growing guide.
