Biriba, scientifically referred to as Rollinia Deliciosa, is a tropical fruit tree native to South America, particularly found in tropical regions of Brazil and other countries in the region. The fruit is sizable, either conical or round, initially green when unripe, and matures into a vibrant yellow. Its aromatic flesh is glossy and translucent, with a texture reminiscent of jelly. When the fruit is ripe, its skin peels off easily, revealing a fibrous yet smooth and creamy interior. Despite containing small, inedible elliptical seeds with dark brown color, the Rollinia fruit is celebrated for its mild-acidulous flavor, often described as a delightful blend of pineapple, banana, coconut, and various other tropical tastes.

Nutritionally, the Biriba offers an abundance of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C, iron, as well as proteins and carbohydrates. It also contains essential amino acids such as lysine, methionine, threonine, and tryptophan. The fruit was traditionally consumed as a cooling stimulant and to prevent scurvy, while its ground seeds were used as a remedy for digestive issues.

Commonly known as Biriba or Wild Sweetsop, this fruit tree is known as Rollinia Deliciosa in botanical terms. It typically starts fruiting around 2 to 3 years after planting and requires a moderate level of maintenance.
